When you have an old boiler and it is starting to play up or has broken completely as a homeowner we have to make decision either to repair or to replace your gas boiler.

On one hand if your boiler breaks down, it will cost somewhere between £300 to £400 to fix it, this can happen again and the next time it could be worse costing you a lot more money to fix and leaving you wishing you had spent the money on replacing it in the first place.

If you decide to replace your old boiler you have to factor in all the costs to get a new boiler installed, for example, cost of the boiler itself, The quality of the new boiler, cost of getting the work done like having any new boiler pipework installed. Typically having new boiler installed cost anywhere between £1,500 to £3,500 this depends on the type of boiler system, the position of the boiler and the manufacturer of the boiler.

Worcester Bosch is the leading brand in central heating boilers and comes with up to 12 years guarantee parts and labour, if you're going to have a new boiler then you might as well choose the best this way you can guarantee hassle free heating for years to come.

The different types of central heating system boilers are heat only, system boilers and combi boilers:

A heat only boiler system is one that has an airing cupboard with a hot water cylinder, a separate central heating pump, one or two motorised valves and two separate water tanks usually in the loft.

A system boiler is one that has an airing cupboard with a hot water cylinder (typically an unvented cylinder) but the central heating pump is built into the boiler there is also no need for separate water tanks.

A combi boiler is one that doesn't require a separate hot water cylinder any separate heating pumps or valves and no need for any water tanks in the loft. The hot water comes direct from the cold water supply via the boiler, this decreases the risk of stored water in the loft. This also removes any future costs for the guarantee period of the boiler, except for the annual service check.

If the new boiler position is in the middle of the house and the flue system is required to go through the roof this is what we call a vertical flue and typically cost an additional £500 pounds for this type of system.
