Heating/Hot Water Issues?

  • Frozen condensate is one of the most common winter problems with modern boilers. If part of your condensate pipework is outside, then in very cold weather it may freeze. This could cause your boiler to stop working. You might hear a gurgling noise coming from the boiler and if your boiler has a digital display, you might see an ‘EA’ error code too. There’s no need to worry if your condensate pipe freezes. You can usually thaw it safely without the need to call an installer or plumber.

  • On a combi boiler the pressure on the dial needs to be between 1 - 1.5 when heating is cold ( this will go up to 1.5 - 2.5 when hot ) if below 1 it will need re-pressurising back to 1 bar.

  • Check a few simple thing:

    The water mains is on

On standard boilers, check the timer and cylinder stat is set on

  • Check the boiler has gas and power to it, if not check fuse and fuse board.

Check the boiler pressure is ok ( between 1 - 2.5 bar )

Is fault code displaying? try resetting the boiler

Annual Boiler Service Questions

  • Depends on the boiler, old boilers take about 45 mins to service and newer boilers take about 20-30 mins to service

  • It depends on the system and age of the boiler, if the engineer needs to work on the boiler it is best the boiler is cool enough to handle.

  • You don’t have to have the inhibitor added but it is good for the system to have plenty of inhibitor in the system. heating system can never have to much inhibitor but can have to little.

  • If you boiler is under guarantee it has to be carried out every 12 month to keep the guarantee valid.

Your annual service is important to make sure your gas appliances are working properly. an gas appliance that's not been serviced could cost more money run, use more energy and could even start producing poisonous carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is colourless and scentless, it is hard to tell if your gas appliance is leaking carbon monoxide, so it is very important to have them serviced by a Gas Safe Registered engineer once a year

  • Standard and combi boiler boilers cost £66 inc vat

Back boiler cost £90 inc vat

  • It is recommended that you have your gas boiler serviced every 12 months

New Boiler Installation Questions

  • We usually start an installation between 8 - 9am in the morning

  • Depends on the installation, boiler swaps take 1 day with 1 engineer to complete, regular to combi boilers take typically 1 day to complete with 2 engineers and complete full heating typical take 2 day to complete

  • With 1 Day jobs all gas, water, and heating will be back on by the end of the day. Jobs over 2 days we will make sure you have cold water and gas at the end of the first day but you may be without heating and hot water overnight

  • We cover our working areas with our own dust sheets, we can move anything that needs moving but it does help if the work areas are fairly clear.

  • We safely dispose of all waste materials we generate during an installation.

  • No, we do all the necessary paperwork, register the boiler with manufacturer and with Gas Safe

Boiler Guarantee Questions

  • All our boilers have a either 5,10 or 12 year parts and labour manufacturers guarantee. Make sure to have the boiler serviced every 12 months to keep the guarantee valid.

  • We will register the boiler guarantee with the manufacturer and also register the boiler with Gas Safe.

  • It is best to call us first on 01162788222, as sometimes the problem is not the actual boiler but something else we can ask a few questions and either book a visit or get the manufacturer to visit.

  • This depends on the manufacturer, the time of year and the type of boiler problem. Manufacturers prioritise boiler that are not working and/or vulnerable customers.
